Using the Process Calculator to Develop Percussion Drilling Processes
Did you know that Laserdyne system users are drilling combustors in 30 to 50% of the time required only a couple of years ago?
At least some of this has come from the higher average power and high pulsing rates of QCW fiber lasers. Further cycle time reductions have come from the ability to precisely control the laser output in real-time, which shows up in capabilities such as pulse shaping and SmartPierce™.
To help users of LASERDYNE systems get the most from their processes, we introduced the LASERDYNE Process Calculator. We have also prepared video demonstrations that show how LASERDYNE Applications Engineers use the calculator to develop laser cutting and laser welding processes.
The focus of this demonstration is laser percussion drilling 0.5 mm diameter holes in a nickel-based alloy.
